General: This week, Facebook Inc., Twitter Inc., Google and Microsoft Corp. pledged to tackle online hate speech in less than 24 hours as part of a joint commitment with the European Union to combat the use of social media by terrorists. The companies and European Commission said in a joint statement that beyond national laws that criminalize hate speech, there is a need to ensure such activity by Internet users is “expeditiously reviewed by online intermediaries and social media platforms, upon receipt of a valid notification, in an appropriate time-frame.” Ironically, this has already affected Americans who have been complaining of certain types of censorship. This of course, extends to the allegations that such companies have been attempting to bury Conservative views.

You have probably heard about the Anti-Trump “riots” in San Jose this week. A few hundred protesters fought with supporters and dozens of fights broke out. This included assaults on police, the burning of flags, and so on. In yet another example of how the government cannot protect you, for several minutes, there was no police presence and protesters beat on Trump supporters’ cars in the parking garage as they tried to leave. Somehow the idea that this is not a racial issue still escapes those protesting. For example, it was reported this week (again) that a Brazilian-based smuggling network has managed to sneak illegal immigrants from Middle Eastern terrorism hotbeds into the U.S. through Mexico. This evidently included one Afghan who authorities say was part of an attack plot in North America. Of course, the numbers show there may be a much bigger threat and Mexicans are not the problem. Along with human traffickers, drug-cartel and gang members, law enforcement personnel in recent years had several run-ins with so-called “special interest aliens.” These are people coming into the United States from 35 Middle Eastern, African and Asian countries associated with terrorist groups. In fact, Texas alone reported 143 “land border crossing encounters with watch-listed individuals in southwest border states between November 2013 and July 2014.” Of course, this problem has been known since 2006; it’s only an issue now that someone wants to do something about it. Perhaps REAL national security is racist too? But the clashes over “racism” go on nonetheless. Also present at these clashes and fueling the fire… people holding SEIU signage.

Speaking of left-wing groups that use taxpayer money for really messed up things, it was discovered this week that left-wing groups are using taxpayers’ money to advance a “misleading” anti-Donald Trump agenda and are pushing for green card holders to naturalize in order to vote against the GOP front-runner, according to Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions as reported by The Daily Caller.

We also discovered that federal records showed that Hillary Clinton posted and shared the names of highly classified U.S. intelligence officials on her unprotected email system that was vulnerable to attack and was breached repeatedly by Russia-linked hacker attempts. Ironically enough, it was also reported this week that fifty percent (50%) of voters believe that Hillary Clinton should continue running until a court determines her guilt or innocence – which could take years.

Meanwhile, news has emerged that for the past 30 years, Congress has steadily passed an increasing number of “secret laws”—provisions that are kept from the public eye. Taxation without representation? Unconstitutional? Who cares, right? We have gorillas to talk about. Well, maybe a law you might find interesting is California Senate Bill 1161, or the California Climate Science Truth and Accountability Act of 2016. This bill aims to make it illegal to engage in climate-change dissent. First Amendment issue?

Economics: CNSNews reported that a record 94,708,000 Americans were not in the labor force in May — 664,000 more than in April — and the labor force participation rate dropped two-tenths of a point to 62.6 percent, near its 38-year low, according to the Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. What I find particularly interesting is that the evidently, the U.S. added only 38,000 jobs in May; yet this somehow brought the U-3 unemployment rate down to 4.7% (down from 5%). Now, they attribute this massive swing to the idea that 458,000 people left the labor force either by retiring or by giving up looking for work. However, the Alternate Unemployment Rate for May 2016 jumped to 23.0%, so you do the math!

OPEC nation Venezuela’s financial crisis has transformed the nation into a nation of lines; lines of people attempting to get the basics such as pasta, toilet paper, rice and in some cases, even water. How can this be? Venezuela is a socialist nation. Watching American television as of late, I could have sworn I thought I heard about how perfect socialism is. Maybe I missed something, But if I didn’t, why is Sanders or any of his supporters still around? Do they not read? Of course, Venezuela’s economic survival depends on higher oil prices; especially since the government seized control and it really has no private industry to keep them afloat. Thankfully, around the world, demand for oil is becoming stagnant; sometimes even declining in demand due in great part to the boom in renewable energies and private sector innovations. Too bad socialism. Better luck next time.

We must remember that we live in a world filled with ignorant people though. This financial tragedy is far from done and in many regards, simply getting started. In fact, Gregory Mannarino says you better be protecting yourself for what is coming in the financial markets. “The whole correction to fair value is going to seem like the mother of all collapses.” I believe he is correct. Remember, you have the blind leading the blind, and they all seem to be caught up in a high dose of normalcy bias. Mannarino says that “there is no stopping it. All they are attempting to do is sustain it a little bit longer, and it’s only going to make this worse.”

Global: The government has another problem. The House of Reps just passed the National Defense Authorization Act for 2017 (HR-4909) and they are asking the Pentagon to figure out how it is going to deal with issues associated with purchasing “trusted” electronics for military weapons and national security surveillance systems from foreign and foreign-owned producers, now that the ownership of its most important source of leading-edge microelectronics has been sold by IBM to a foreign company.

China has once again warned the U.S. about its actions and intention in the South China Sea. Cato chimed in on the matter suggesting that China’s military build-up only threatens U.S. dominance; not necessarily it’s security. They said that “America enjoys a vast military lead, possessing a significantly larger nuclear force, 10 carrier groups compared to China’s one carrier, and much more” and suggested that even the Pentagon does not believe Beijing is planning an aggressive war. However, this could all be said to keep people calm because Chinese rhetoric says something completely different. In the next few weeks, the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague is expected to rule on a challenge to China’s maritime claims in regard to the South China Sea. This ruling will more than likely not favor China and China knows this. They have already refused to even participate and called the entire process “illegal”. Furthermore, they have already rejected the judgement of the court and experts around the world are warning of a potential military confrontation, triggered by an angry China or because the United States plans to continue their freedom-of-navigation patrols near Chinese-held reefs.

Meanwhile, the Russians are beginning a massive military buildup. In fact, their military has recently announced plans for more than 2,000 military exercises over the summer. The key point is their reason. They say it’s an attempt to discourage NATO from further buildups of troops in Eastern Europe. On the other side of that coin, NATO has come out and urged its members to stand up to ‘Russian military assertiveness’. To make matters a little more interesting; the head of NATO has also pledged to strengthen the alliance’s forces along its eastern borders. Of course, I should also mention that according to the commander Vice Adm. James Foggo III of the U.S. 6th Fleet, Russia has already stepped up its submarine operations and is regularly probing U.S. anti-submarine networks in what he calls a new “Battle of the Atlantic.”

Health: A recent measles outbreak in the southwest has been traced back to an inmate at the Arizona immigrant detention facility. Confirmed cases continue to grow. What is really interesting about this is that again, some of these confirmed cases are in those who have been vaccinated. The media doesn’t seem to want to talk about how a vaccine is supposed to stop an infection but the infection still occurs.

Also this week, the first baby born with Zika-linked microcephaly in the U.S. has been confirmed in New York. Remember, health officials are still learning about this virus and what it can or cannot do. It’s best to be safe, so act accordingly. Speaking of which, new information suggests that Zika can also be spread via oral sex and perhaps even by kissing.

It might also be a good idea to avoid stagnate waters, salty brackish waters and shellfish this summer due to a really bad bug. Health officials are dealing with some sort of flesh-eating bacteria that are excessively hard to treat. If your wounds get worse, get to a doctor immediately.

Another thing to keep an eye on this summer is any symptoms that you might have that include unexplained bleeding, fever, fatigue, headache and vomiting. Health officials seemed stumped about a new sort of “Hemorrhagic Fever Outbreak” that started in the northern part of South Sudan. The worry is that scientists don’t know yet how the disease is transmitted.
