On November 20th 2015 at Bunny Friend Park in New Orleans, a mass shooter opened fire into a crowd of roughly 300 to 500 people. 17 people were injured and the majority of the wounded were under 21 years of age. Investigators found some 70 shell casings the following morning and so far, only a single suspect is being held on a $1.7 million dollar bond.
Thankfully, all but a couple of the victims are reported to be in “fair to good condition,” according to The Times-Picayune. But shouldn’t we be asking why more people have not heard about this? Why exactly is the mainstream media so silent here – especially considering this being touted as an act of “domestic terrorism”?
Perhaps it has a lot to do with the shooter himself. 32 year old Joseph “Moe” Allen was arrested Saturday and booked with 17 counts of attempted first-degree murder. But Allen has an extensive criminal record including being booked twice for murder in 2002 and 2008. His record also shows that he was sentenced to five years in prison for pleading guilty to illegally carrying a weapon as well as repeated charges surrounding the possession of heroin and cocaine. However, in early 2012, Allen was sentenced to eight years in prison but in 2013, but a judge amended the sentence and recommended that Allen be eligible “for any and all rehabilitation, educational, and or work release programs.”
Understand that I write this in such a way so as to elevate your inquisitive nature. There are other elements to this story and in many ways, the story is still unfolding. For example, Allen was evidently only the first of several suspected gunmen identified from two rival gangs who opened fire on each other. Additionally, Allen’s mother says he was in Texas at the time, shopping with his pregnant wife for baby clothes. But isn’t that the point? It seems only local media wants to talk about this unfolding event. Sure, there have been a couple of national sources hit on it, but it has not really been a national headline. Why?
While the mainstream is all over the news about a crazy shooter in Colorado and trying to paint their narrative as they do, where are they about the numerous children – some as young as 10 – getting shot at a gathering in Louisiana? Where is the news story about gang violence? Where is Black Lives Matter on this one? Is it because the shooter(s) is black? Is it because this was black on black crime and maybe this doesn’t “count”? Where is the President, or any other number of blowhards who are normally out condemning this or that? This is a major incident, and nobody wants to talk about this?
Well just maybe, the reason that media, government officials, and other blowhards don’t want to discuss this incident is because it exposes a very simple truth. That truth is that a bunch of known criminals with extensive criminal records had complete and easy access to firearms, in spite of the fact that law forbids such people from owning them in the first place. They didn’t have a background checks and they didn’t buy them at gun shows or the local gun dealer. But they still go them. And these criminals did exactly what criminals do, and committed crimes with the firearms that the law said they couldn’t own.
Is that what the media is trying to avoid? Are they afraid of letting people know the truth about our legal system? Are they afraid of exposing the fact that there was nothing anyone (except maybe the judge) could have done to prevent this? Or maybe it’s the judge they don’t want to talk about; because it was the judge that allowed this person back on the streets. I guess we’ll never know, since they refuse to speak to it. Isn’t it ironic?
On A Personal Note: If this doesn’t provide a wake-up call to you about an obvious agenda of manipulation or perhaps a complete disregard, I don’t know what will. But, at least now you know what the media didn’t want you to know. Mass shootings can happen at any time, for any number of reasons. Your biggest threat is not the conservative. It never has been.
